WHY PUBLIC TV FAILS THE PUBLIC

While it is certainly true that there have been some very worthwhile, and even extraordinary, programs on PBS, that rationale is little different than stating that the end justifies the means... a deeply troubling way of looking at things.

The very same folks who are up in arms over Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and the need to re-install the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" are awfully silent when the subject turns to the taxpayer funded, leftwing advocacy of PBS.

OBAMA FAILS RELIGIOUS TEST: SCHLUSSEL

Going after Debbie Schlussel for her remarks regarding the religious heritage of Barack Obama and the religious/ideological persuasion of Keith Ellison is all well and good. But perhaps, in fairness, we could spread the ignominy around a bit?

The current headline at USA Today reads:

"Will conservative Christians support a Mormon for president?"

PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT AYATOLLAH BEHIND THE CURTAIN

Isn't this the very same IAEA whose "inspectors" were charged with ensuring that under the infamous Agreed Framework, the North Koreans weren't developing nuclear weapons?

So why on earth would any sentient human being believe that the IAEA is currently any less craven and inept than they were right up to the time the North Koreans announced that they possessed nuclear weapons and kicked out the IAEA "inspectors?"

It seems to me, that the very first question which ought to be asked of each and every congressional candidate this fall is whether he or she is willing to accept a nuclear-armed Iran. Incidentally, in an interview with Fox's Neil Cavuto recently, former CIA Director Stansfield Turner offered his opinion that Iran was between 1 year and 2 years away from developing nuclear weapons.

AN UNSCHOLARLY, NON-LAWYERLY OPINION ON THE NSA DECISION

...even Dems on those committees have mostly kept their mouths shut, one wonders that if those who know more about this program than Judge Taylor or Lambchop aren’t saying it’s illegal and unconstitutional, how we do we square this with Taylor’s decision?

Strange indeed.

Stranger still is the deafening silence from the left over the agreed upon stay of Judge Taylor's injunction against the NSA program.

Even "Lamchop," who castigates others for criticizing in Judge Taylor's opinion the vary same irrational incoherence which is his own congential mien, even he has had nothing of substance to say about the stay.

If the world is truly "going to hell in a handbasket" over this NSA surveillance program, if democracy is truly about to be wiped from the face of the earth as the shriekers would have us believe, if out ultimate doom is to result from this intelligence gathering effort, one from which no one single instance of injury has been established, then where are the cries of those doomed to perdition in the iterim? Where is the indignation that the NSA program will continue in effect through the considerations of the 6th Circuit and beyond to the Supreme Court justices?

HIZBULLAH "OFFER" TO DISARM IS A CROCK

Seems to me this is substantively no different than the tactic used to such great international effect by mass murderer, Yasser Arafat, who wound up with a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. He also got a trip to the White House, which is no small achievement considering how much Clinton charged for overnight stays in the Lincoln bedroom.

BDS GOES GLOBAL

What I find far more interesting than Boo Man's spittle is his presumptuousness.

Of all those persons he thinks are lined up to bitch-slap Professor Dershowitz, there's little doubt that the only one he knows is the fool who stares back at him in the mirror each morning.

HARDBALL

Far be it from me to try and "one up" Rick's commentary here, but it seems increasingly clear that President Logan's demise will ultimately be at the hands of his wife... with an appropriate cover story for public consumption.
At the other end of the scale, we are still no closer to knowing who ratted out Jack in the first place, and to whom. Looking at the remaining players, it looks very much like there are still a few too many "good guys" around, and not nearly enough "bad guys" left. Something ain't right.

CRASH!

Forget Ken Lay. How about all those people who didn't get out of Global Crossing when Terry McAulliffe did?

MARTHA FOR PRESIDENT!

Rick,
Be prepared to move Walt to another column on the bodycount ledger. If his death was really a suicide, I'll eat my CTU keycard.

IN DEFENSE OF COMMON DECENCY

Many years ago, a very wise man with only a sixth grade education told me, "The two least common things you'll find in life are common sense and common courtesy." Truer words were never spoken.
